In Gijón, Spain, ATGENDER held the 2019 Spring Conference with support from the University of Oviedo, AUDEM (the Spanish Association of Women’s Studies) and Espora Gender Consulting . The conference, ‘‘Feminist Teaching through Emotions, Feelings and Affects’’, attempted to analyse how emotions, feelings and affects can empirically and theoretically reconcile mind and body; how the affective can help transgress binarisms; and what teaching and learning methodologies they foster. The conference also sought to stimulate active and reciprocal exchanges between educators, students, graduates, researchers, activists and those professionally engaged with gender studies and intersectional feminist research and practices.

Alongside the panels, roundtables, and workshops, the conference also provided social activities for participants, such as the speed networking for early career scholars, a tour through the University of Oviedo, and the conference dinner evening. The ATGENDER Spring conference had over 120 attendees of European feminist scholars, activists, and policy makers who were able to connect! At the General Assembly held during the conference, ATGENDER was also able to welcome three newly elected members to the board: Charlène Calderaro from University of Lausanne (Switzerland), Demet Gulcicek from University of Warwick (United Kingdom), and Åsa Margareta Ekvall who is a freelancer based in Utrecht (The Netherlands). Unfortunately, with new beginning there comes some goodbyes. Three of our previous board members are leaving us: Edyta Just, Sabrine Marchetti and Marianne Schmidbaur (will be leaving in fall).
